An AC box gives an air conditioner its own heavy-duty plug point with local switching: the AC's 20A plug goes into the socket, and an MCB in the window beside it switches and protects the circuit. SPN means single phase and neutral — the normal supply for home and office ACs.
As pictured, the socket is a 20A metal clad type with a cap on a tether, and the MCB window is marked 1 and 0. Pair it with our 20A 2 pole metal clad plug, and fit an MCB rated to suit the AC and the cable.

How to install
- Switch off the supply and fix the box on the wall near the AC.
- Bring in a dedicated circuit with cable sized for the load, and fit a suitable MCB in the window.
- Connect phase, neutral and earth as marked, close the cover and test with the AC's plug.
Electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician with the supply switched off. The AC circuit must be earthed and protected by a suitably rated MCB.
